Who are we ?

The public interest group Cancéropôle Île-de-France includes 7 member institutions and 14 partners, and brings together the entire cancer research community in the Paris region. To carry out its missions, it includes decision-making, scientific strategy and scientific evaluation bodies.

With funding from the Institut National du Cancer and its member institutions, its scientific strategy is based on thematic working groups, and aims to meet the specific needs of the Paris Region by integrating multidisciplinary and inter-institutional approaches.

Members and partners

Cancéropôle Île-de-France member institutions are major players in cancer research, combining care and research. They contribute to the financing of the Cancéropôle Île-de-France.

Cancéropôle Île-de-France’s partners also include research institutes and networks, public and private sector associations, universities, hospitals and industry. Representatives of each institution are invited to attend meetings of the Board of Directors and the PSC.

The General Assembly (GA)

The General Assembly is made up of representatives appointed by each member for a renewable three-year term. It administers the group and takes all decisions concerning the life of the GIP: adoption of the budget, the annual program and approval of the accounts for each financial year. It also deliberates on the appointment of members of the Strategic Steering Committee and on the operation of the group.

Strategic Steering Committee (COPS)

An internal Cancéropôle body, the COPS is responsible for defining and monitoring scientific strategy, organizing scientific activities, encouraging the emergence of new projects, and assessing the strategic relevance of projects supported by the Cancéropôle. The Scientific Director is in charge of the Cancéropôle’s scientific coordination and strategy. He/she relies on the PSC to make strategic, scientific and medical decisions.

Members of the COPS are:

  • representatives of the 7 Cancéropôle IDF members
  • representatives of the SIRICs (Site de Recherche Intégrée sur le Cancer) in the Paris region
  • representatives of partners, including patient associations
  • leaders of the working groups defined in the Cancéropôle IDF’s scientific strategy
  • leading researchers and clinicians representing key cancer research disciplines.

General secretariat

The general secretariat operates the group under the authority of the Board of Administrators. In dealings with third parties, the General Secretariat binds the group by all acts falling within its scope. The organization in place enables less than 3 FTEs (full-time equivalents) to handle all scientific, administrative, legal and financial follow-up for the Cancéropôle Île-de-France.
